The Five Story L Shaped brick Sanitarium with architecture modeled after the Richardsonian Romanesque style was built around 1892. Dr. Henry Foster, the central character to the Sanitarium, dreamt of God speaking to him and instructing him to build a Sanitarium centered around God, where prayer would rule over medical treatment.
